Reporting a problem

The more of this you can include, the faster it gets fixed:

Your macOS version and Mac model (Apple menu → About This Mac)
The PingGrapher version (PingGrapher menu → About PingGrapher)
What kind of target was involved — Host Ping, Ping Sweep, Traceroute, or Service Check
What you expected to happen, and what happened instead
A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see

Common issues

A host shows as down, but it responds elsewhere. Plenty of hosts and firewalls silently drop ICMP, which makes a normal ping look like total packet loss. Add it as a Service Check instead — host:port times a TCP handshake, and an http(s):// URL times a web request. Both measure reachability without relying on ICMP.

A ping sweep reports fewer hosts than expected. Same cause: a device that ignores ICMP is indistinguishable from one that is switched off. Sweeps also cap at 254 addresses per range.

A traceroute stops before reaching the destination. Many networks drop the TTL-expired messages traceroute depends on, so hops appear as *. That is the network's behaviour rather than a fault in the app, and the hops that do reply are still accurate.

My history disappeared after updating. PingGrapher is sandboxed, which means macOS stores its data in a container tied to the app's identifier. Updates that change that identifier start with a fresh history. Your targets and preferences carry over; recorded graphs do not. See the release notes for details.

macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Universal — native on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Where your data lives

Everything PingGrapher records stays on your Mac, in ~/Library/Containers/com.sixdoes.PingGrapher. Nothing is sent anywhere. The privacy policy covers this in full.

Genuinely welcome. IPv6 support and additional check types are already on the roadmap, and what people ask for shapes the order things get built in.
